The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is an Australian Government program that provides funding to people with permanent and significant disability. It supports participants to access the services and equipment they need to live more independently and participate in their community.

Question 6

Am I eligible for the NDIS?

Accepted Answer

To be eligible for the NDIS, you generally need to be under 65 years of age, be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects your ability to take part in everyday activities. You can check your eligibility at ndis.gov.au or contact us for guidance.

Question 7

What types of NDIS funding can I use with EaseAssist?

EaseAssist supports participants across multiple NDIS funding categories, including Core Supports (daily activities, social and community participation), Capacity Building Supports (support coordination, improved daily living), and Assistive Technology and Consumables for equipment purchases through our shop.

Question 9

What if I do not have an NDIS plan yet?

Accepted Answer

If you are not yet on the NDIS, we can still help. Our team can provide guidance on the access request process, connect you with the right supports, and help you prepare for your planning meeting. Contact us to find out more.

Question 13

How do I start receiving support from EaseAssist?

Accepted Answer

The easiest way to get started is to submit a referral through our Referral Form, or call us on 1800 957 811. Our team will get in touch to discuss your needs, confirm your NDIS funding, and arrange an initial meeting to develop your support plan.

Question 14

Can I choose my own support worker?

Accepted Answer

We do our best to match participants with support workers who suit their needs, preferences, and goals. If you have specific requirements — such as language, gender, or cultural background — please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate them.

Question 15

How do I make a referral to EaseAssist?

Accepted Answer

You can submit a referral through our online Referral Form, which takes just a few minutes to complete. Alternatively, you can call us on 1800 957 811 or email admin@easeassist.com.au. We accept referrals from participants, family members, Support Coordinators, and other allied health professionals.

Question 16

What information do I need to make a referral?

Accepted Answer

To make a referral, it helps to have the participant's name, contact details, NDIS number (if available), and a brief description of the supports they are looking for. You do not need to have all of this information to get in touch — we can help you gather what is needed.

Question 17

How long does it take to start services after a referral?

Accepted Answer

Once we receive a referral, we aim to make contact within one to two business days. The time to commence services will depend on the availability of suitable support workers and the complexity of the participant's needs, but we work as quickly as possible to get supports in place.

Question 18

Can a family member or carer make a referral on behalf of a participant?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Family members, carers, Support Coordinators, and other professionals can all make referrals on behalf of a participant. We just ask that the participant (or their legal guardian) is aware of and consents to the referral.

Question 19

What types of equipment does EaseAssist sell?

Accepted Answer

Our online shop stocks a wide range of mobility and daily living equipment including wheelchairs, walkers and rollators, lift chairs and seating, bedroom aids, bathroom aids, scooters and power chairs, daily living aids, continence products, communication aids, and ramps and access solutions.

Question 20

Can I use my NDIS funding to purchase equipment from the shop?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many items in our shop are eligible for NDIS funding under the Assistive Technology or Consumables support categories. The level of evidence required depends on the item. Our team can help you understand what is claimable and assist with quotes and documentation.

Question 21

Do I need an assessment to purchase equipment?

Accepted Answer

For lower-cost items, an assessment is generally not required. For higher-cost assistive technology such as power wheelchairs or speech generating devices, the NDIS typically requires an assessment from a qualified occupational therapist or other allied health professional. We can help connect you with the right professional.

Question 22

Can I trial equipment before purchasing?

Accepted Answer

For many items, we can arrange a trial to ensure the product is the right fit before you commit to a purchase. Please contact us to discuss trial options for the specific equipment you are interested in.

Question 23

Do you deliver equipment across South Australia?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We deliver equipment to participants across South Australia. Delivery timeframes and costs will vary depending on the item and your location. Contact us for a delivery quote or to discuss your specific requirements.
